Michelle Wie Blog

Michelle Wie has made the cover of Fortune magazine - and she has not won a professional tournament yet.  Today it seems the only thing that matters is being first out in front of a trend, and Fortune took a huge risk by having Michelle Wie don the cover of its Oct. 17th issue - before the announcement was made she was turning pro.

I can’t imagine they didn’t have inside information on that one though.   The headline apparantly is: Wie Will Rock You.  A full 15 pages of coverage on the teen golf star.  You’ve gotta hope for Michelle’s sake that the circus will be worth it.  If she fails to win a tournament in the next year or so, you can bet the press will be brutal on slamming the very thing thing that brought her to such high expectations.  Hype can be brutal if you don’t live up to it.  Remember the Lebron James hype?  Fortunately he was able to handle it and perform half way decent.
