Michelle Wie Disqualified from Samsung Open

Michelle Wie was disqualified from the Samsung Championship Sunday, soon after signing her scorecard for 4th place.   A tough break in her professional debut, Michelle apparantly was called on a bad drop in the 3rd round on Saturday.

 ”I learned a great lesson,” Wie said, her voice choking with emotion. “From now on, I’ll call a rules official no matter where it is, whether its three inches or 100 yards. I respect that.”

Apparantly the trouble started when Michelle hit a 5 wood into the bushes, then taking a drop because her ball was unplayable.  After reviewing the tape from NBC, officials claimed she dropped the ball 1 foot closer to the hole than she should have and promptly disqualified her.

Welcome to the big leagues Michelle!  It’s not only the $53,000 grand she missed out on, but the fact that she has to tell her kids and grandkids that she was disqualified from her first professional tournament. 

Annika blew everyone away by winning by 8 shots.  An interesting weekend to say the least.
