Michelle Wie Tour Schedule Set

Friday, March 24th, 2006

Michelle Wie has made her final choices for the eight LPGA tour events for 2006.  Monday, she accepted an invitation to the Samsung world championship completing the eight LPGA tournaments she can play in.

As you may remember, last October, Michelle made her professional debut at the Samsung championship. That was the infamous disqualification after dropping her ball too close to the hole, then signing an incorrect scorecard.

Michelle is allowed six exemptions.  She will play in all four major tournaments along with the Women’s Open and Women’s British open not counting towards her six exemptions

Will Michelle Choke at HSBC World Match Play

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

So now the Michelle Wie has agreed to play in the HSBC world match play championship to be held in New Jersey in July, who’s willing to bet that she chokes?  Granted she has played well in the past in match play tournaments.  Then again she is going up against the two best players in the world Paul Creamer and an Annika Sorenstam.

Michelle has going into the tournament the title of the youngest player in history of the Curtis cup.  That was held in 2004 when she won both singles matches.  They should be very interesting to watch and I’m sure the ratings will soar especially if it’s a close match.

Michelle Joins Annika, Paula for Match Play in July

Friday, March 17th, 2006
Looks like Michelle Wie will be joining Annika and Paula at World Match Play this summer.  The 3 best players in the world will come together on July 6 at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club.

Michelle expressed relief that the tournament was held during the summer months and school was not an issue.  Michelle prefers match play.  Some of her best results came in match play situations.

Annika needs to redeem herself this year after only reaching the quarterfinals last year.

First prize is $500,000 and the total purse comes in at $2 million so there is plenty of money to be made.  Other than the fact that match play is a nice diversion from regular stroke play, it is no wonder that this one has brought out the best in the world on the roster.
