Michelle Wie Video Playing in German Open
Here is some good video taken by a bystander at the German Open recently. Some nice shots of Michelle on the tee, fairway and the green too. Her swing looks good, especially in slow motion. The skirt is not too bad either….
Wie Finishes 6th at Ladies German Open
Move over Michelle Wie…there is a new kid on the block.
Amy Yang shot five-under-par 67 yesterday and won the Ladies German Open by four strokes. This was her first win as a professional, something Michelle has yet to accomplish – even after millions in endorsements.
Yang, an 18-year-old who had a course record of 63 on Saturday, finished with a 21-under 267 total. After the win, Yang said she would donate the $61,260 (U.S.) in prize money to victims of the recent earthquake in China. Now is that cool or what? What 18 year old couldn’t use a cool $61 grand, yet she gives it away to others less fortunate. Setting up some good Karma already at only 18.
There was a glimmer of hope for Michelle Wie in the tournament as well.
Michelle showed she can still play with a final round of 67. She finished 6th overall in the tournament – her best showing in almost 2 years. Wie had a total of 14 under, the first time since the Evian Masters in July of 2006.
Wie Shoots 68 in Ladies German Open
Michelle Wie shot a 4-under 68 at the Ladies German Open with about half the field in the clubhouse, trailing leader Nina Reis of Sweden by five strokes.
The 18-year-old American birdied three of the first five holes and made par the rest of the way at the Golfpark Gut Haeusern, north of Munich.
“I felt I was a little bit rusty. But I am happy with how I played today,” said Wie, who is hoping to gain some confidence after playing just two tournaments in the United States this year.
“I feel I can do a lot. I left a lot out there on the par fives.”
It’s Wie’s first appearance in a full Ladies European Tour field after receiving a sponsor’s invitation to play in the event. It will be interesting to see if Michelle can keep these low scores going into the weekend.
Could she finally be on her way to winning a tournament?
