Michelle shot an opening round of 77, five over par. Robert Allenby, foreshadowed Wie’s score by saying the long course would be a par 77 for Michelle.

Who was to blame other than the ungodly long course? Her putter of course. In her own words Michel said, “My iron play was fantastic today,” Wie said. “My driver, aside from a couple of missed shots, was pretty good – my short game and putting let me down.”
The novelty of seeing Michelle do her thing with the man does not seem to be wearing off. As usual, Michelle attracted a huge gallery, the biggest of any of the players. Of course television cameras were all over her every shot even though she finished 13 shots off the lead.

And John Daly? Chances are he had the second-biggest gallery. As of this minute however, the PGA web site reveals that he has overtaken Michelle Wie for today’s round. And as of this minute Michelle is in last place after only eight holes and six over for the day. One has to wonder if she is going to grow tired of this.
