PostHeaderIcon Does Michelle Wie need to get rid of David Leadbetter?

I don’t think Leadbetter is a good teacher and I don’t think he ever helped anyone he worked with. Should Michelle make the switch now to another teacher, or keep him and see what she can do after Q School?

Leadbetter seems to be one of the most technical of the PGA teaching professionals. For some players, the information overload is overwhelming.

Your kidding, right? He helped Nick Faldo rework his swing and win 6 majors.

I think Michelle Wie needs to tell her father to get a life and be a Dad, and not a shameless promoter of his daughter to her detriment. This guy is a college professor?

Michelle Wie needs to tell BJ to go blow himself.

  • Rob B says:

You’re entitled to your opinion but Leadbetter’s hands are tied when it comes to the circus surrounding Wie. Even God couldn’t straighten everything out for her overnight. Her problems extend way beyond swing planes, angles and timing.

  • Darren says:

No she needs to dump her dad.

  • wbaker777 says:

Actually she just needs to send th B.J. Circus home and just go play golf the way she is capable of playing.

Actually David should dump Wie quick. She’s making him look bad as a professional coach. She can’t dirve straight, always asking for relief, can’t read the green correctly, can’t putt well… she’s giving David a bad name.

No, I think it’s her family specifically her father that has caused the trouble with her game. She has a world of talent tho. I think she’ll work it out and be fine.

  • Three Putt says:

I think Leadbetter has helped players, but he has also hurt players with his coaching. That’s just natural. I am not knocking him, but Wie’s flame-outs are making him look bad IMO.

Wie was never a great ball-striker. She hit a few 300-yard drives on downhill, downwind holes in Hawaii and the media ran with it. I don’t think I have ever seen her make a tough putt!

  • I think Nick Faldo and his six majors would disagree with you on Leadbetter’s ability to help someone he’s worked with…

  • Considering that David Leadbetter has been voted in the Top 5 PGA’s teaching professionals for the last 100 years, I would say he is better off getting rid of her, she needs to go back to school and get an education, then smack her father and come back and tear up the LPGA, but right now Leadbetter is way to good a teacher to be wasting his time with her.

It is nice to see this posting here. I have to agree, Leadbetter is NOT good. Wie is pretty much confused, her talent is wasted, but beyond that first she better quit joining men’s tour. I would say she better go to butch harmon.

  • Tony says:

The bottom line is she is getting paid $20 million a year. And you guys are saying she or her family made a mistake? Really don’t get it. Look you are even here reading this – just to say the Wie’s are making a mistake???

  • Michelle had a PERFECT swing before Lead Poisoning as he is known on tour got a hold of her!! And for the people that think he helped Faldo, well his swing was PERFECT until he started doing what Leadbetter wanted, any one that understands the swing sees this……
