I’m teaching ESL in Korea and I can say that most Korean’s speak very little English after 10 years of classes so I’m betting this is problem with the Korean golfer more than anything. They just don’t try to speak at all.

Americans are not too stupid to be bilingual. i taught myself 3 foreign languages. ( Cantonese,Japenese,and espanol) They are just stubborn, because contrary to popular belief, English is backwards, not everybody else. Some of these languages are thousands of years old, and english is how old? its not hard, Check out a Pimsleur program from the library,put it on your $600 touchscreen ipod and stick with it. otherwise,speak ONLY english,and remain linguistically below average. Beezies!!!

well put. The LPGA has been very racist for many years and did as they wished. I think everyone who works internationally should learn the language that dominates thier field.
However that is down the list after everything that makes a champion. Learn the language, sure just don’t force it on anyone. Sorry LPGA, it is no longer a whites only game, nor an America ‘whom I LOVE’only game.
The rule seems fine to me, if part of your job is to hang out with English speaking CEOs and give press conferences in English… Maybe you should learn English instead of relying on the LPGA to hire a translator for you.
To succeed in the world today you have to speak English, so get with the program or get left behind.
