Michelle Inpires Golf Dream in Youngsters

It seems that enrollment in golf classes in Hawaii is seeing a surge - especially by the girls - no doubt because of the Michelle Wie phenomenon.  Could this be another NBA in the making?   Younger and younger athletes dreaming of the big payday and celebrity status while still in their teens?

Over the past 10 years the NBA has seen its share of high school superstars opt not to go to college and go directly into the NBA.  Michelle Wie surpassed this marker by turning pro at 16 - something you are not allowed to do in the NBA or any other major pro sport as far as I know.

But alas, golf is a far different type of sport.  Inner city kids cannot play golf on the local playground and the solo aspect to golf make it much more intense mentally.  Not to mention the fact that it is damn hard to hit that little ball into that little cup!

Michelle and Tiger are very rare cases and hopefully we will not foster the dream to millions of kids that they too can just practice and turn pro by age 16, making millions in the process.  Much better to foster the love of the game and let it help kids sharpen other aspects of their life.  Here is the article>>>
