Michelle Wie a Member of the PGA?
Here’s an interesting question to ask: Will Michelle Wie ever be a permanent member of the PGA? This question could be highly debated, for both sides. The fact of the matter is, Michelle has already played in eight men’s tournaments and last weekend made the cut for the first time - and by five strokes at that.
So in 10 years, Michelle will be all of 26 years old. If she continues to play in men’s events, eventually she will win one. And possibly she may win a major. When she does that, what is the PGA to do? Do they continue to let her play on the LPGA tour, and enter as many men’s tournaments as she wants, or do they let her simply continue as an LPGA member, and jumping over to the PGA whenever she wants.
Then, there is also the Nationwide tour, but one has to wonder if Michelle would ever become a regular member and play on the Nationwide tour. No, she has her sights on the PGA and winning a major, just as any other aspiring male golfer does at her age.
And as these other young phenomenal women golfers such as Dakota Dowd come on the scene, what will happen then if Michelle is playing in a dozen tournaments per year on the PGA Tour? Will others aspire to do the same?
